Project Description

Description:

The Ideal Supply Co. Expansion Project  will require the demolition of the former Summergrade factory site clearing 69,810 sq. ft.  Ideal Supply will construct a new pipe warehouse to be structurally integrated with Ideal’s adjacent, existing facility creating a complex of 131,000 sq. ft. The new facility will be constructed using the "Green Building" concept of natural light and energy.  The exterior of the facility will compliment the surrounding area, and will allow for the loading, unloading and storage of 14 trucks within the building itself. 

Status:

The Agency and the Redeveloper executed a Redevelopment Agreement in October 2006. The Ideal Supply Co. Expansion Project received Final Site Plan approval  and is in the process of finalizing environmental approvals. The Agency anticipates ground breaking on this project in the spring of 2009.

04/02/2007 - JCRA Signs Agreement with Ideal Supply Co.
The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency is pleased to announce that they have signed a Redeveloper Agreement with Ideal Supply Company that will pave the way for the Company to expand its facility by 55,000 square feet and create 25 new employment opportunities for the residential of Jersey City.”There is nothing more rewarding to this Agency than to be able to assist in the growth of a local business,” said Bob Antonicello, Executive Director of the Agency. “Growth and expansion of local business is the certerpiece of our mission. We welcome the opportunity to help Don Strittmatter, CEO of Ideal Supply expand his business on Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City”

Mayor Jerramiah Healy stated “I have made job retention and expansion an important part of my administration and we are delighted to help Ideal meet the demands of their growing business.” Ideal Supply Company will be acquiring the former Summergrade facility adjacent to their present building, to increase the size and capacity of their existing building. The Summergrade property is presently owned by the City of Jersey City and will be sold to Ideal Supply for this expansion..

“Ideal Supply has been an integral part of the Lafayette Community for well over fifty years. This addition makes it possible for Ideal Supply to stay in the Lafayette Park Redevelopment Area. Ideal presently employs fifty-five people, many from the Lafayette neighborhood. “Not only will the Project replace a site which has long been dorment with environmental issues, but the Agency has gone through great lengths to ensure the building is architecturally suitable to the surrounding area,” stated Chairman Jim Morley.
