Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Municipal Council and the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency announced today that it will celebrate this years’ JC Green Awards on July 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the newly renovated Municipal Council Chambers at City Hall.
Now in its second year, the Green Awards (commonly referred to as the "Greenies") has sparked a considerable amount of interest among residents and the business community.
"After last year’s awards were announced, I was inundated with calls for future nominations and, therefore, expanded the award program," cited Robert Antonicello, Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency. "I found it necessary to use a more formalized competitive process to select the finalists."
This year’s Green Awards will recognize noteworthy environmental efforts in the areas of new development, business practices and residential homeowners’ initiatives.
"Mayor Healy’s policy initiative of building and growing a sustainable city is really catching on. The Greenies are our way of recognizing innovation and leadership in the area of living and doing business in a sustainable way," noted Robert Antonicello.
Applications can be obtained on the Agency’s web site www.thejcra.org, visiting the Agency’s offices at 30 Montgomery Street, 9th floor or at City Hall’s front desk.
